Ajman Free Zone: Company Setup, Costs and Requirements
Ajman Free Zone, also called AFZ, is the public-sector free zone in Ajman. It is not Ajman Media City and it is not Ajman NuVentures Centre Free Zone. Prices from those other licensors are not used on this page.
Legal form and licence
AFZ registers a free zone establishment (FZE), a free zone company (FZC), a branch of a UAE company, and a branch of a foreign company. The foreign branch can be fully foreign owned. AFZ says its sales still go through a UAE registered agent or distributor. That limit is specific to the foreign branch, not to every AFZ company.
Licence types are a business licence, an industrial licence, and a sole professional licence. The business licence is for the trading activities named on it, with offices, warehouses and land among the facilities AFZ lists. The industrial licence is for manufacturing, with warehouses, land or onsite accommodation. The sole professional licence is for freelancers in 40 categories, with coworking, and AFZ says members are eligible for one residence visa and family sponsorship. Eligibility is not the same as an issued visa.
This may fit if
- You need a warehouse, industrial land, or a straightforward trading company in Ajman.
- A freelancer wants one visa and a coworking base, inside those 40 categories.
- An existing UAE or foreign company wants a branch, and can live with the foreign-branch sales rule if that is the form.
Check carefully if
- You were quoted an Ajman Media City or ANCFZ package. Those are different authorities.
- The freelance activity is outside the 40 categories, or you need more than the one visa AFZ attaches to that licence. The calculator allows a freelance case only as a virtual office with one visa.
- You need a fixed public price. AFZ’s calculator collects company type, physical or virtual office, visa count up to 10, and a licence term of one to six years, then tells you to confirm the estimate with its advisors.
- Partners already hold a UAE residence visa. AFZ asks residents for a no-objection letter from the sponsor, plus a visa copy.
What the cost is made of
No current official dirham figure is published here. Reviewed 1 October 2026. VAT treatment is not stated. Renewal should be confirmed from a current quotation. AFZ says the setup steps are: choose the legal form, licence and facility; submit the application; receive the licence and registration kit; then start the visa.

Documents AFZ lists
- FZE: passport valid for at least six months, a photograph, and, for a UAE resident, a sponsor’s no-objection letter and a visa or UID.
- FZC: the same set for each partner.
- Branch: the manager’s passport and photograph, plus the parent trade licence, memorandum and a board resolution. A UAE manager also provides a visa or UID.
AFZ says it offers more than 3,500 activities. The activity still has to be one AFZ will put on the licence. A neighbouring option in another emirate is RAKEZ. Sharjah’s SPC Free Zone is a different authority again.
