RAKEZ: Company Setup, Costs and Requirements
RAKEZ is the Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone. It licenses operating companies: trading, services, industry, media, education and freelance work. It is not RAK ICC, and it does not use RAK ICC fees or registered-agent rules.
An operating zone, not an offshore registry
RAKEZ’s licence page lists commercial, general trading, e-commerce, professional, service, industrial, media, educational and freelancer permissions. It also says some of those permissions can be used in free-zone and non-free-zone areas of Ras Al Khaimah. That is a RAKEZ statement about its own licences. It is not a second company at RAK ICC. An international business company belongs on the RAK ICC page.
Facilities are part of the choice. The promotion packages include coworking. Industrial users on RAKEZ’s own stories use ready facilities, including in Al Hamra. A coworking desk does not stand in for a factory.
This may fit if
- The company will actually operate: sell, advise, teach, or make something.
- Coworking is enough, or you are ready to lease a RAKEZ facility.
- A current promotion matches the shareholder count, activity count and visa you need.
Check carefully if
- You wanted an offshore holding company. That is a different registry.
- The activity needs a warehouse or industrial plot. Ask which facility the promotion excludes.
- A promotion mentions tax. Designated-zone tax treatment depends on the qualifying rules. This page does not decide that.
- You need the renewal invoice before you start. Outside one package, RAKEZ says the renewal fee varies by entity and does not print the amount.
Current promotion / package
Reviewed 1 October 2026. These are promotional packages on RAKEZ pages, not a permanent statutory tariff. VAT is not stated. A standard renewal amount is not published. The licence term on the package page is one year, and late renewal can incur penalties.
Licence packages page. RAKEZ promotion.
AED 6,000
Shown as the Lite package. The page’s basic-package description is one shareholder, one activity, and coworking.
AED 12,000
The second price on the same page. The page’s broader package description is up to five shareholders, up to five activities, coworking, and one residence visa.
Business setup promotion. Separate page, separate package.
AED 14,000 per year
RAKEZ describes this as all-inclusive for the trade licence and one UAE residence visa. It includes mixing up to 10 activities, up to 50 shareholders, coworking, and up to three further visas at AED 4,000 each. RAKEZ says this package keeps the same renewal price.
AED 2,500 upgrade
Optional. RAKEZ bundles visa support, banking assistance and corporate-tax registration support. That support is RAKEZ’s service, not an AskVi filing.
Designated-zone promotion. Another page.
From AED 16,550 a year
Includes one UAE residence visa. RAKEZ also advertises 50% cashback in the second year. The page’s tax wording is not repeated here.
The online setup flow shows a sample total that depends on the options selected. That sample is not listed here as a second tariff. Documents named on the package page include a passport, a visa or Emirates ID for residents, a no-objection letter if a sponsor must issue one, and a memorandum where the legal form needs it.
What to line up
- Match the activity to a RAKEZ licence category, including industrial if you will manufacture.
- Pick a package only after the shareholder count, activity count and visa are known.
- Apply online. RAKEZ says a physical visit is not required for that application.
- Renew before the one-year term ends. The amount depends on the entity unless the promotion you bought states otherwise.
Ajman is a different emirate: Ajman Free Zone. The directory of other zones is UAE free zones.
